Well, technically it's not my first trip, as I spent a whole day in Edinburgh about 8 years ago...I am planning to go to Scotland in June, and I'm a bit nervous because this is my first walking holiday alone outside of France, my native country. The trip will last about 10 days, and I want to do as little driving as possible (I hate driving, even when it's on the right side of the road), so I'd like to find a friendly hotel to stay in and make day trips from there. At first I thought I would go to the Isle of Mull, but now I'm thinking that Ullapool might be better and give me more choice of walks. Besides, if the weather is really bad, I might run out of castles and museums to visit after a while on the Isle of Mull. Does this make sense? One thing I hate is crowds. Will there be a lot of people in this area in June? Maybe there are other places I haven't thought about that would be less crowded and as beautiful?

Please help.

I did not find the right solution from the internet.
