MINNEAPOLIS -- Two games into the season, and it is clear that Russell Westbrooks knee injury has taken the swagger and ferocity right out of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The last team in the NBA that will have any sympathy for the Thunder is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are showing signs of putting everything together after two years of devastating injuries. Kevin Love had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Ricky Rubio added 14 points, 10 assists and five steals to lead the Timberwolves to a 100-81 victory over the Thunder on Friday night. Nikola Pekovic had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Minnesota and Corey Brewer led a spirited defensive effort against Kevin Durant. Derrick Williams had 10 points and seven rebounds for Minnesota after not playing in the opener. Durant scored 13 points on 4-for-11 shooting and had trouble finding clean looks against a Timberwolves team that was supposed to be porous on defence. But the Thunder shot 35 per cent and turned the ball over 21 times to get run out of the building. "We can be very good," Love said when asked how good the team can be if it plays that kind of defence. "We can be very good. But Ive learned not to look too far into the future. I just want to take it day by day." After scoring 42 in the season opener against Utah, Durant scored his fewest points since Dec. 31, 2011 when he had 12 against Phoenix. Jeremy Lamb was the only other Thunder player in double figures with 16, and it has become abundantly clear very early in the season how much they miss Westbrook. "If they play one-on-one, I felt like I had the better matchup. But every time I caught it there was two guys guarding me, so Ive got to kick to my teammates," said Durant, who had four turnovers. "Ive got to make better decisions in that area." The Thunder offence has lacked its usual punch with the fiery Westbrook sidelined indefinitely. "Them not having Westbrook, thats taking away 25 (points), seven (rebounds) and six (assists) or some crazy number like that," Love said. "Its a whole different dynamic when they have Westbrook on the team. " Westbrook or no Westbrook, it was a bit of a statement for the Wolves, who enter this season with hopes of getting to the playoffs for the first time since 2004. They led by 34 points, allowing coach Rick Adelman to rest his starting five for the entire fourth quarter. The Timberwolves shot poorly in the first half as well, but they used some opportunistic defence and made good at the free throw line to build a 20-point lead. They made 18 of 19 shots at the foul line while Durant, Kendrick Perkins and Steven Adams piled up the fouls early. The Wolves, who figured to struggle on the defensive end this season without a true shot-blocker in the paint, forced 13 turnovers in the first half, which led to 19 points. "We know we can score," Rubio said. "But when we (play) defence, were a different team." Williams blocked two shots and the Wolves made Durant work for his touches while limiting his shot attempts. The Thunder star was just 2 for 5 from the field in the first 26 minutes, and it looked at times like he was deferring to his younger role players to try to get them involved. All it did was dig the Thunder a bigger hole. The Wolves offence got clicking midway through the second quarter with a 21-9 run that ended on a beauty of a no-look, wraparound bounce pass from Rubio to Pekovic in transition for a 59-37 lead. "Im worried about guys playing hard, competing hard and playing for your team every time down the court, and tonight that wasnt the case," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "But its early. Weve got a game right around the corner and weve got to play much better." NOTES: Timberwolves C Ronny Turiaf left the game in the second quarter after taking a nasty spill while fighting for a rebound against the Thunders Nick Collison. He was diagnosed with a right elbow contusion and did not return. ... The Thunder head back to Oklahoma City for their home opener against Phoenix on Sunday. ... Martin finished with nine points. Carlos Gomez launched a three-run homer and Matt Garza battled into the seventh inning for his first win in four starts to help the Brewers continue their mastery of the Rockies with a 7-4 victory Saturday. Jordan 12 Cheap Real . Signs of a turnaround have emerged in this series at Minnesota. Brian Roberts had three doubles and a triple for the first four-extra-base-hit game of his 14-year career, and the Yankees used their bullpen to preserve a 6-5 win over the Twins on Friday. Air Jordan Retro 12 Wholesale .com) - The Chicago Blackhawks take aim at their longest winning streak of the season on Sunday when they host the Calgary Flames in a battle at the United Center.(SportsNetwork.com) - The Nashville Predators will try to extend their winning streak to a season-high four games when they host the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets in Saturdays clash at Bridgestone Arena. The Predators have won three straight for the second time this season, matching their run from Nov. 6-11. Nashville, which enters Saturday tied with St. Louis for the Central Division lead, hasnt posted four consecutive wins since Jan. 31-Feb. 7, 2013. All three of Nashvilles recent wins have come after regulation, as the Preds opened a four-game homestand with close wins over Florida, Los Angeles and Edmonton. The Preds posted shootout decisions over the Panthers and Kings on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively, and then notched a 1-0 overtime victory against the Oilers on Thanksgiving night. Filip Forsberg continued his impressive season, scoring with 1:05 remaining in overtime to help the Preds down Edmonton on Thursday. Nashville did not appear to be in good shape early in OT, as the Oilers began the extra session on a power play, then were awarded a penalty shot 13 seconds into the extra session when Nashville defenseman Shea Weber closed his hand on the puck while in the crease. Pekka Rinne denied Jordan Eberle on the free chance, stretching with his left pad to deny the penalty shot attempt at the right post. Moments later, Forsberg spun to shield the puck from an Edmonton player and fired a wrist shot from the left circle past Viktor Fasth. Forsberg is leading all rookies this season in both goals (10) and assists (13). Rinne made 37 saves to earn his second shutout of the season and 34th of his career. It wasnt our strongest game, but we caame through at the end, Rinne said.dddddddddddd We kept improving the whole night. Rinne has solid career numbers against the Blue Jackets and is expected to start tonight. He owns a 15-7-2 record and a 2.44 goals against average in 25 career games versus Columbus. The Blue Jackets have lost five straight heading into tonights tilt, but the club hopes to pick up a win this evening against a team it has had a run of success against in recent years. Columbus has claimed three of four and five of the last seven overall meetings with the Preds and also has won two in a row and three of the past four encounters in Music City. Columbus, however, is mired in a 0-4-1 drought and only has two wins over its last 16 games (2-12-2). The Blue Jackets, who have been decimated by injuries in 2014-15, are dead last in the NHL standings with 14 points after making the playoffs last spring for only the second time in team history. The Blue Jackets were routed Friday night at home despite trailing Vancouver only 1-0 after 40 minutes. The Canucks added four more goals in the third period and Ryan Miller completed a shutout in the 5-0 blowout. Sergei Bobrovsky made 25 saves on 29 shots for Columbus. We just couldnt score. They do have one of the best goalies in the world, no question, but we didnt score a goal, said Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson. Columbus is currently playing without a host of key players including forwards Brandon Dubinsky, Nathan Horton, Mark Letestu and defensemen Ryan Murray and Fedor Tyutin. Among that group, Dubinsky is believed to be the closest to returning, but he has yet to play this season and is questionable for tonight.
